All About Me

Hello! My name is Camryn Spina and I am from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I am a student at Rutgers University in New Brunswick pursuing a Master's degree in Global Sports Business. I recently graduated with degrees in Sport Management and Psychology with a minor in Organizational Leadership.. I searched for an out-of-state experience that would provide endless opportunities and diversity. Currently, I work full-time as a Recruiting Coordinator. I dream of a position working in a collegiate athletic department, a professional franchise, or a governing body in the sports industry. I would love to obtain leadership roles connecting sports to real world issues, or  to own a business of my own one day.

Growing up as a multi-sport athlete as well as an avid spectator, it allowed me to truly understand the passion and fire I have for sports and athletics. It also instilled a work ethic in me that I use as my greatest strength every day.

Growing up, friends would say that I grew up in the "All-American family". I am the youngest of just me and my brother, but as a family we were always involved in athletics. My father coaches high school football, my mother was my high school cheerleading coach, my brother was a 3 sport athlete as was I. I played various sports growing up but found my place in volleyball, softball and cheerleading during my high school years. I found joy in watching others compete and was happiest in this type of environment. At one point, I played 3 sports on 7 teams and was busier than ever.

When I was 14, I tore my ACL. When I was 15, I tore it again. When I was 16, I tore my other ACL. All of which were season-ending surgeries, I used this time to understand my role as someone who couldn't compete. I contribute my current success to my lessons learned during this time. I learned the power of optimism and dedication as well as the value of being a great teammate. It also allowed me to devote my effort into other areas of my life which showed me how to instill passion into everything I do, rather than just sports. However, it also showed me that sports are an environment that I belong in - no matter what aspect it may be.

I also learned in the value of friendships, putting others before myself, and creating environments that can allow for the uplifting of others and the power of mentality. Thus, influencing my interest in psychology as well.
